What was broken
Customer follow-up is a critical but repetitive part of the sales and service cycle. Reaching out to customers after a purchase, inquiry, or service interaction requires consistent, timely contact - but doing it manually through human agents is expensive, inconsistent, and impossible to scale proportionally.
Human agents have limited availability, vary in quality of conversation, and can only handle a finite number of calls per day. As customer volume grows, the follow-up process either becomes a bottleneck or requires proportionally more staff.
The goal was to automate outbound follow-up calls entirely - without the conversation quality dropping to the robotic, scripted tone of traditional IVR systems.
The Solution
What we built
We built an AI-powered voice agent using Twilio for telephony infrastructure and ElevenLabs for natural voice synthesis. The agent handles outbound calls automatically - dialing customers, conducting follow-up conversations, and handling basic responses without any human involvement.
ElevenLabs provides natural, human-quality voice output - the conversation doesn't sound robotic or scripted, which was critical for customer experience. Twilio handles the call infrastructure, routing, and reliability.
A pilot run was conducted with real customer calls, validating both the technical reliability and the conversational quality in production conditions.
