The Friction

What was broken

A US-based hospitality client was managing hotel operations entirely manually - no unified system existed to coordinate the multiple moving parts of daily hotel operations.

Guest check-ins and checkouts were logged separately from housekeeping schedules, meaning front desk staff had no visibility into room readiness and housekeeping staff had no real-time awareness of checkouts and priorities. Linen changes, room cleaning assignments, and maintenance tasks were communicated verbally or via paper - leading to delays, missed tasks, and coordination failures.

With no central platform, management had no real-time view of operational status. Finding out the state of any room or any staff member's task load required direct verbal communication.

The Solution

What we built

We built a full hotel operations platform as the sole developer - designing, architecting, and shipping the entire system end-to-end. The core of the system is a React Native mobile app with role-based access, giving each team member an interface tailored to their specific responsibilities.

Front desk staff see guest check-in and checkout management, room status, and the ability to trigger cleaning requests instantly when a guest checks out. Housekeeping staff receive real-time task assignments on their mobile devices - which rooms to clean, linen change requirements, and priority order. Management has a full operational dashboard showing all room statuses and staff task progress.

Socket.io powers real-time communication across all roles - when a guest checks out at the front desk, the housekeeping team sees a new task appear on their device within seconds.
